Fritillaria meleagris ‘Snake’s head fritillary’ also referred to as ‘Snake’s head lily’ is a fuss-free head turner and wildflower gem. These mixed bulbs will produce purple and white bell shaped flowers that appear in April with striking chequerboard markings on tall stems.

Fritillaria meleagris bulbs are ideal for naturalising in borders, grass, meadows and in light woodland shade.

These striking perennials grow up to 20cm/8″ tall and have attractive, long, thin, grey-green leaves. Fritillaries produce at least one or two flower heads and should be planted in clumps for maximum impact.

Plant bulbs in the ground or in containers from September to December for spring flowers in April and May. Try to plant bulbs approximately 8cm/3″ deep and 8cm/3″ apart.
