The Fox’s Grape Fritillary (Fritillaria Uva-Vulpis), so-called due to it’s striking frosted-blueish outer petals that resemble grapes, flowers with downward facing bell-shaped flowers that are a deep-purple on the outside and golden yellow on the inside.
This striking Fritillary is perfect for planting in spring flowering beds and borders, or containers on a sunny patio. They can also be used in a wild meadow area where, if left undisturbed, they will spread and naturalise effectively over time.
These dainty flowers do well planted almost anywhere since their stems are hardy in most weathers, however they won’t be as successful if planted anywhere excessively wet.
Plant these ‘Uva-Vulpis’ bulbs around 10cm deep and 8cm/3″ apart in the soil, preferably on their sides, in clusters to create a great display. The flowers are also the perfect choice for cutting and adding to floral arrangements to enjoy around the home.
