Crocus tommasinianus blooms with lilac to dark purple single-petaled flowers, with grass-like silvery foliage.

These little bulbs are perfect for planting at the front of colourful beds, in pots or containers on a sunny patio, or planted in a window box for a lovely view from inside the home. Early Crocus bulbs can also be planted in clusters amongst grass or on the outskirts of other woodland flowers to create a forced wildflower meadow.

Plant these bulbs around 10cm deep in drifts, preferably in an area where they can be left to naturalise over time undisturbed. If planting the bulbs in grass, be sure to wait to mown the grass until the foliage has died back completely to prevent harm to the plant. To avoid any damage from mice or squirrels, lay chicken wire over the bulbs before covering them with soil.
