Tulip ‘Cape Town’ (10 bulbs)

Tulipa ‘Cape Town’ is an exciting and colourful tulip variety with gorgeous lemon yellow flowers, edged with a deep scarlet red that darkens to maroon as they age.

‘Cape Town’ tulips will flower throughout April and May, reaching a height of approximately 35cm/14″, standing on a mid-green stem with matching lance-shaped foliage.

This variety was also awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s coveted Award of Garden Merit thanks to its excellent reliability, consistent results and thorough disease and pest resistance.

These spring flowering bulbs are ideal for planting at the front of colourful flower beds, in patio pots and containers, or in window boxes to be admired while indoors. Tulips are also excellent as cut flowers in arrangements to be enjoyed around the home.

‘Cape Town’ tulip bulbs can be planted in a wide array of soil conditions, be it acidic, alkaline or neutral, so long as there is effective drainage. Try to find a position of full sun, in a place where tulips have not been grown in recent years, preferably protected from strong winds. Look to plant the bulbs around 10cm/4″ deep and 10cm/4″ apart.

Remove any flowers when they begin to fade and support with a top dressing of slow acting fertiliser, such as bone-meal, after planting to assist the flowering.
