Lilium ‘OT-Hybrid Tower Lilies Purple Prince’ combine the stature of the Chinese Trumpet Lily with the exotic beauty of the Oriental Hybrid Lilies.
Part of the Orienpet class of lily, these hybrids inherited the stature and trumpet shaped flowers of the Chinese Trumpet Lily, and the exotic beauty and fragrance of the Oriental Lily. However they are more heat, cold, drought and disease resistant than either parent.
Over time these lilies will increase in height, flower size and flower count eventually reaching up to 150 to 200cm with dozens of ravishing, waxy flowers, each of which can be up to 20cm across. Each bulb can produce up to 30 blooms and will take on a shrub like appearance over the years. Their hardy stalks are almost 5cm thick so they shouldn’t need staking and the foliage should remain lush all season.
A Lilium ‘OT-Hybrid Tower Lilies Purple Prince’ can be planted through shrubs in borders, against walls and fences, or in large pots for the patio and can be left to look after itself. The bulbs should be planted approximately 2 times their height deep (around 15cm) and at least 20cm apart.
These substantial flowers are long lasting and drought resistant once established and will naturalize brilliantly. Orienpet lilies tend to bloom slightly earlier than Orientals with an alluring fragrance, reminiscent of raspberries and roses.
Orienpet lilies will usually flower around July to October.
