A delicate pink for the summer border, the Lilium ‘Oriental Salmon Star’ will delight and shine through.
This commanding lily can be used in a summer bed, container or pot and can even be used as a cut flower with its fragrant scent and delightful freckled petals.
They prefer a heavy, well drained, acidic soil and will generally take between 2-5 years to reach their ultimate height. These bulbs should be planted between March and June. Aim to plant the bulbs in a position protected from strong winds where they will receive sun or partial shade but try to avoid hot conditions such as along a south facing wall.
The bulbs should be planted approximately 15cm deep and 30cm apart as they can reach up to 90cm tall and 40cm wide when fully developed and settled. It may therefore be advisable to stake the lilies before blooming in order to prevent wind damage. When using these lilies in a pot, aim to plant 3 bulbs per each 10-14″ ‘patio type’ pot using a high quality multi purpose compost such as John Innes No.3.
Oriental lilies will usually flower around July to August.
