David Austin Gabriel Oak® English Shrub Rose (6-Litre Pot)

David Austin Gabriel Oak is a magnificent English shrub rose with large rosette blooms. The flowers are a striking shade of deep pink, with the outer petals paling slightly over time. The beauty of the blooms is enhanced by a wonderful, strong fruity fragrance which is full of berries and has an almost jammy character.

A vigorous growing rose, it forms a very shapely, rounded shrub with mulberry purple stems and dark green foliage. It is a repeat-flowering, so you can enjoy its beauty all summer long. Easy to care for, it will thrive in most climates and prefers full sun. It is also drought-tolerant once established.

Bred by David Austin and introduced in 2019, Gabriel Oak is named after the beloved character in Thomas Hardy’s novel, Far from the Madding Crowd.

How to care for your rose

To get the best blooms from your shrub rose, plant it with a sprinkling of David Austin Mycorrhizal Fungi to help the roots establish and encourage good plant health. We also recommend regularly feeding with rose food, once in late March or early April and again in July. Whilst in flower, regularly deadhead the spent blooms to encourage new bud growth.
