Tulipa ‘Rococo’ is a fantastic tulip with oversized carmine-red petals that feature intense green feathering and a hint of yellow as well as highly ruffled petal edges.

Parrot tulip such as ‘Rococo’ are whimsically-shaped tulips with ruffled or fringed petals. Emerging as green buds, they will eventually open into mature unusually-coloured flowers, resembling the plumage of a parrot.

They will flower for several weeks around May, with lance-shaped grey-green leaves and a mature height of around 40cm/16″.

These hardy spring bulbs should be planted in small groups in borders or containers, providing a source of exotic early spring colour, preferably protected from strong winds. They are also excellent as cut flowers fighting for a place in the cut flower garden.

‘Rococo’ tulip bulbs can grow in almost any soil, be it acid, alkaline or neutral, provided there is satisfactory drainage. Look for an area of full sun, in a place where tulips have not been grown in recent years. Plant the bulbs approximately 10cm/4″ deep and 10cm/4″ apart.

Remove flowers when they begin to fade and support with a top dressing of slow acting fertiliser like bone-meal after planting to assist the flowering.
