Tulipa ‘Flaming Parrot’ is an exotic tulip variety producing cup-shaped flowers consisting of highly fringed petals that open white, turning golden yellow as they age with deep red streaks. As these large flowers are exposed to the sun they will open wide over time until they are nearly flat.

Parrot tulip are whimsically-shaped tulips with serrated or fringed petals. Green as buds, they will eventually open into mature unusually-coloured flowers, resembling a parrot’s plumage.

These ‘Flaming Parrot’ bulbs will bloom for several weeks in mid spring, growing lance-shaped grey-green leaves and reaching an eventual total height of around 50cm/20″.

These hardy spring bulbs are perfect for planting in small groups in borders or containers adding a little taste of paradise, preferably protected from strong winds. They are also excellent as cut flowers earning themselves a place in the cut flower garden.

‘Flaming Parrot’ tulip bulbs can grow in almost any soil, be it acid, alkaline or neutral, provided there is satisfactory drainage. Look for an area of full sun, in a place where tulips have not been grown in recent years. Plant the bulbs approximately 10cm/4″ deep and 10cm/4″ apart.
