The Hosta ‘T.Rex’ is a large, clump-forming deciduous perennial that grows up to 2m wide. This expansive coverage is achieved via large, matte green leaves that can grow as long as 45cm, with deeply impressed veins. During the summer, this Hosta will also produce loose clusters of white flowers that rise above the foliage on 1m tall stems.
This 3 litre pot ‘T.Rex’ Hosta, grown in-house at Gates Garden Centre, is best planted in and among other perennials in beds and borders in a shaded garden. Due to its ample reach, this plant is particularly effective when used as groundcover or to underplant shrubs and roses and can be used in both city and informal cottage gardens.
Plant in a position of full or partial shade into fertile, moist and well drained soil. Watch for slugs and snails, remove spent foliage as required and clear up dead foliage when it dies back at the end of the growing season. Mulch annually in spring and water during dry spells. Propagate by division in early spring or late summer.
