Known also as golden twig dogwood, Cornus sericea ‘Flaviramea’, are typically grown for their stunning winter colour when their leafless stems shine as a rare source of intrigue and variation within a winter garden.

This wonderful, suckering, medium-sized deciduous shrub will form a thicket of these colourful stems in the winter, leaves that turn red or orange in the autumn, small off-white flowers in the spring and summer and some white berries in the autumn.

Easy to grow, this shrub variety received the Royal Horticultural Society’s prestigious Award of Garden Merit, demonstrating its excellent consistency and optimal resistances.

Try to plant in a position of full sun or partial shade with soil that is moist but well drained. These shrubs tend to be generally pest or disease free and are fully hardy in the UK down to around -20 degrees.
