Cornus alba ‘Sibirica‘, also known as Siberian dogwood, is most often used for its distinctive winter colour when their leafless red stems are able to stand out as a valued source of variation within a muted or monotone winter garden.
This medium-sized suckering deciduous shrub will produce a thicket of these colourful and slender stems, turning bright crimson in the winter. Its green spring and summer foliage turns red in the autumn alongside bluish-white berries while delicate cream flowers appear in the spring and summer.
Easy to grow, Cornus ‘Sibirica’ is a member of the RHS Plants for Pollinators collection, recognising its value in attracting and supporting bees and other pollinators in the garden.
Plant in a position of full sun or partial shade with soil that is moist but well drained. These shrubs are usually pest or disease free and are fully hardy in the UK down to around -20 degrees.
