Gates Garden Centre are pleased to announce that we will be running the popular Certified by Weber BBQ Course 2023 this summer. The course lasts approximately three hours and participants can choose to attend the course on either Saturday 8th July or Sunday 9th July, 12-3pm.

From Hobby Chef to BBQ Hero

This new course is designed to take your barbecue skills to haute cuisine level and is intended for anyone using a charcoal, gas, electric or wood pellet barbecue who wants to get the very best out of their set-up.

The immersive three-hour deep dive into barbecue skills will give you and your classmates the background understanding and hands-on experience to guide you through a tempting array of cooking experiences available with your grill. You’ll also discover how versatile a Weber Barbecue can be.

Under the expert tutelage of the Weber Grill Master you will personally prepare and consume the following delicious dishes:

You’ll graduate from the course with a free Weber Apron, a Weber certificate and receive access to a digital recipe booklet of the course content.

A full range of Weber tools and accessories for lighting, cooking on and cleaning a BBQ will be used, as well as all four fuel-types.

Meet the Weber Grill Master: Chef Tarrant Ablett

Tarrant is a Weber Grill Master, BBQ & Outdoor Cooking Expert, Live Events Host, Presenter, Demonstration Chef and occasionally pops up as a guest Chef on ITV’s This Morning.

He has worked as Head Chef at Bird of Smithfield in London, along with doing events at the Ritz under Chef John Williams, the Royal Automobile Club with Chef Philip Corrick and Cafe Spice with Cyrus Todiwala OBE.

His real passion is outdoor cooking and for the last 6 years has been running the Weber BBQ Courses at Gates Garden Centre and around the UK. He loves teaching people the techniques of cooking on a BBQ, the intricacies of lid down cooking, how to smoke, cook direct and indirect and how to bake; all on a BBQ.

Tarrant has been described as a cross between Ricky Gervais and Gordan Ramsay, combining his passion for cooking and grilling with his presentation skills making the course fun, full of simplifying techniques and, most importantly, entertaining.

Tarrant believes cooking goes far further than ‘just’ food. For him, it’s about bringing people together, sharing stories over the BBQ , nourishing mind, body and soul. In the words of Holly Willoughby, Host of ITV’s This Morning; ‘I love how enthusiastic you are about the food you cook, it’s infectious and makes people want to learn’.
