The ‘Stained Glass’ Hosta is a clump-forming perennial that grows thick foliage of vivid yellow leaves with irregular dark green margins.
Beyond the appeal of these expansive matt finished leaves, this Hosta produces tubular flowers that are pale purple with darker stripes, appearing in the summer. Easy to grow and maintain, this plant will grow to a height of around 40cm and a width of 80cm.
This 3 litre pot ‘Stained Glass’ Hosta, grown in-house at Gates Garden Centre, is best in and among other perennials in beds and borders. It is particularly effective when used as groundcover or to underplant shrubs and roses and can be used in both city and informal cottage gardens.
Plant in a position of full sun or partial shade into fertile, moist and well drained soil. Watch for slugs and snails, remove spent foliage as required and clear up dead foliage when it dies back at the end of the growing season. Propagate by division in late summer or early spring.
