Dahlia Cactus ‘City of Alkmaar’ (1 tuber)

‘City of Alkmaar’ is a semi-cactus variety of Dahlia that produces spiky, furled petals of a gorgeous orange-apricot colour, sat above bushy dark foliage.

These striking and exotic blooms are ideal for adding colour and vibrancy to summer borders, beds and containers while also making excellent eye-catching cut flowers.

We recommend planting Dahlia tubers, such as ‘City of Alkmaar’, between March and June into fertile, well drained soil 15 cm deep and 60 cm apart. Position in a sunny location for maximum flowering and impact. After planting, water in well and monitor during the Summer months. Aim for one good soak once a week to the base of the plant.

Use an all-purpose general plant feed for bigger and brighter blooms. Deadhead regularly to encourage more flowers through till first frosts. Cut back to near ground level in the autumn, before lifting and storing for the winter.
