Paeonia Itoh ‘Cora Louise’ is the ultimate light and fluffy border perennial producing showy, spicily scented, saucer-shaped white or pale pink flowers with an inner magenta-pink ring around a centre of yellow. This intersectional or Itoh hybrid peony is a cross between a tree peony and a herbaceous peony, combining the best of both worlds to create one of the most decadent and floriferous varieties around.

A single mature plant can produce as many as 50 flowers making them an ideal choice for a cottage garden or as a focal point in a border. The blooms appear in late spring and are held on strong, sturdy stems, making them ideal for cutting. It will flower for several weeks, thanks to a regular supply of side buds which open, one after the other.

When planting a Paeonia Itoh ‘Cora Louise’ bare root, it is best to do so in a sunny or partially shaded location with well-drained soil. Bare roots can be planted from October through to April, 5cm/2″ deep and 70cm/28″ apart. Once established, the plant requires minimal maintenance, requiring only to be deadheaded and cut back when the foliage dies down. If well cared for it may live for up to 50 years.

The foliage is dark green and glossy, providing an attractive background for the flowers. The plant is hardy and disease-resistant, making it ideal for gardeners who are new to peonies. The plant can reach a height and spread of around 70cm/28″, so it is important to give it some space to grow.

In summary, Paeonia Itoh ‘Cora Louise’ is a beautiful and hardy plant that will add a touch of elegance to any garden. It requires minimal maintenance, has a delicate fragrance and is a great choice for gardeners of all levels.
