The Nest Box can be opened at the back for cleaning purposes (usually after September), but be careful not to disturb nesting or roosting birds. Choose an open location to site the nest box and away from predators, with a clear flight path for birds. Usually hanging a nest box between two to four metres in height should help to attract birds.
Face the nest in a north or easterly direction, to avoid strong sunlight and wet winds. Also, keep it away from feeding sites.
The best time of year for siting a nest box is in the Autumn and to help hang up the nest box there is a handy metal loop provided.
