Known for its large, blue drumstick-headed flowers in summer, Agapanthus ‘Lily of the Nile’ is a flamboyant and exotic-looking perennial that is impossible not to love. Appearing throughout summer from July to August, these blooms grow atop stiff upright stalks of around 90cm/36″, above clumps of beautiful, long, shiny leaves.

Easy to grow, pest and disease free, these flowers are equally suitable for borders and large container but can also look great when planted with drifts of ornamental grasses or sun-loving rudbeckias.

Plant between March and May, in a position of full sun. Agapanthus thrive in well drained soil with a good amount of humus however a rich potting soil should be used when planting in outdoor containers or pots.

Provide moisture during growth, reduce water in autumn and apply mulch for winter protection. Place containers and pots indoors and keep them almost dry and frost-free.
