The Winter Kitchen

On weekends through November and December we’ve added some tasty additions to the Gates dining experience! In Glasshouse 1 enjoy a warming Soup with a roll, the sausagy treat of a Hot Dog with delicious onions and a steaming cup of tea or even a seasonal Mulled Wine. We’ve cosied the place up with our beautiful decorations and toasty heaters and look forward to seeing you soon!

What is a Churro?

A churro is a cinnamon and sugar-topped fried pastry dough stick with Spanish and Portuguese origins. Churros are similar to doughnuts, but they have ridges because they are piped out of a pastry bag. Freshly fried churros have a fluffy and tender interior with a satisfyingly crispy exterior. If this isn’t delicious enough, now choose from either chocolate, butterscotch or cream for dipping!

At this time of year, feasting isn’t just accepted, it’s encouraged. Our Farm Shop features the finest Christmas food and drink – including meats, cheese, wine and condiments – to tea and chocolate advent calendars and sweet treats such as biscuits, mince pies and Christmas puds, there’s a treat to tickle everyone’s taste buds.

Entertaining this Christmas? Hambletons – our butcher, deli and pie maker – use the finest quality meat and produce, all sourced locally from family farms, the Beef and Lamb on their counter is from our Gates Farm just a few yards away.  Their Hambletons Free Range Bronze Turkeys are grown by Robert Garner and his family across in Norfolk, offering the best for flavour, juiciness and firmness.  

A visit to Gates Farm Shop this time of year is a joy, with wonderful fresh baked aromas, seasonal produce piled high and regular tasting sessions to enjoy by a range of unique artisan suppliers.
