A compact, rounded, evergreen shrub, Hebe ‘Margret’ produces bright green foliage that will delight all year round. Throughout the summer months it will also produce short racemes of sky blue flowers that attract clouds of butterflies and other pollinating insects.
It will grow to a height and spread of approximately 60cm making it perfect for growing in large containers or at the front of mixed summer borders where it will provide year round colour and structure. It is also suitable for wildlife areas due to its appeal for pollinators.
When planting, try and find a position of full sun or partial shade and place into moist but well drained soil. Water well after planting and during dry spells through the first growing season. Once established they are fairly drought resistant and will only need watering in very dry conditions. Watch for aphids, leaf spot or downy mildew. Remove spent flowers after flowering to encourage a fresh flush of flowers and feed in spring and summer with a high potash fertiliser.
