Hebe ‘Dark Angel’

Hebe ‘Dark Angel’ is a wonderful variety of evergreen Hebe with rich burgundy evergreen foliage. These narrow leaves appear mid green with a reddish edge and mid rib, turning a full deep-red hue in the winter. From July to August it will also produce spikes of lilac flowers, attracting bees and butterflies to your garden.

This bushy shrub will take approximately 4 years to reach its mature height and spread of around 60cm. It makes for an excellent choice in a summer border, providing a dash of subtle evergreen colour and attracting pollinators to your garden. It can also excel in pots or containers and is perfect for creating a low hedge or screen.

When planting, look for a position of full sun or partial shade with soil that is moist but well drained. Watch for aphids, fungal leaf spot, root rot and downy mildew. Remove deadheads from the plant when they start to shrivel up to extend and support its flowering season.
