A charming and elegant perennial, Dicentra spectabilis ‘Bleeding Hearts’ produces graceful arching stems carrying lockets of beautiful, pink, heart-shaped flowers, adorned with delicate protruding white petals.
A recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit, this hardy and reliable plant is perfect for a low maintenance, low light planting scheme such as in an enclosed or small urban garden or perhaps a woodland area in a larger garden.
Aim to plant between March and June in a position of partial shade and into soil that is moist but well-draining with a good amount of humus.
A mulch in the autumn with organic matter is advisable. The plants like to be left undisturbed and will naturalise well.
