Dahlia Semi-cactus ‘Trebbiano’ is a unique and striking dahlia variety, known for its large, bold firework blooms in a deep shade of burgundy red. The fully double petals are furled and spiked giving the flowers a distinct cactus-like appearance. The foliage is dark green and glossy, and the plant reaches a height of up to 90cm/36″

The tuber is best planted in the spring or early summer, when the soil is warm and moist. Tubers should be planted around 15cm/6″ deep and about 60cm/24″ apart. They prefer a sunny spot in the garden, and well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Once established, plants may need to be staked to provide support for the tall stems and heavy blooms.

Maintaining a Cactus Dahlia ‘Trebbiano’ is relatively easy. It will need to be watered regularly, especially during dry spells, while regular feeding with a high-potash fertiliser will promote healthy growth and abundant blooms. Deadheading the spent blooms will also encourage the plant to produce more flowers.

With its unique cactus-like blooms and lush green foliage, ‘Trebbiano’ is sure to be a conversation starter. With proper planting and care, it will bloom profusely throughout the summer and into autumn, providing a spectacular display of colour.
