With large, fully double reddish-orange blooms that fade into a softer apricot cream towards the edge of each petal, Dahlia ‘Penny Lane’ is sure to make a statement. Each bloom can reach up to 15cm in diameter and will bloom from July, through until the first frosts.

To ensure the best growth and a profusion of flowers, it is important to plant the tuber with the “eye” facing upwards in well-draining soil in a sunny spot. The tuber should be planted at a depth of around 15cm/6″ and watered well after planting. The soil should be kept moist but not waterlogged.

To maintain a ‘Penny Lane’ dahlia, deadhead the spent blooms regularly to encourage the plant to produce more flowers. As the plant grows taller, it may also be a good idea to stake it to prevent it from falling over. Tubers can be left in the ground over winter, but should ideally be lifted and stored in a frost-free place to protect them from the cold. Overall, the ‘Penny Lane’ dahlia is a beautiful and easy to grow variety that is perfect for adding a splash of colour to any garden.
