Dahlia Decorative ‘Mom’s Special (1 tuber)

Dahlia Decorative ‘Mom’s Special’ is a large and impressive variety that produces predominantly white blooms with fully double, slightly twisted petals streaked with lavender blotches and lines. The flowers can reach up to 25cm/10″ in diameter and will appear from mid-summer until the first frosts.

Growing up to 100cm/40″ tall, ‘Mom’s Special’ is perfect for cut flowers or as a focal point in sunny garden borders. It’s also suitable for growing in pots and containers. To plant, place dahlia tubers in well-drained soil in a sunny spot, about 15cm/6″ deep and 60cm/24″ inches apart. Water well after planting and keep the soil consistently moist throughout the growing season. Removing spent blooms will encourage more flowers to bloom.

For early flowering, start the tubers in boxes from March onwards in a light soil mixed with peat, keeping the soil slightly moist. Keep the boxes cool and free of frost, and plant the sprouted tubers once the threat of frost has passed.
