Perfect as cut flowers or in a summer border, Dahlia collarette ‘Night Butterfly’ is an eye-catching charmer, producing unique double-tiered blooms that are sure to turn heads and attract pollinators alike. These blooms consist of large, velvety, deep-red outer petals behind a layer of smaller white and pink flushed inner petals that themselves surround a vibrant centre of rich yellow.

Reaching a height of approximately 100cm /40″, ‘Night Butterfly’ is a relatively compact yet impactful border plant. Its sturdy stems hold the flowers high, creating a beautiful display that lasts from July through to September. Deadheading spent flowers encourages continuous blooming, extending the show of this dahlia well into the autumn months.

‘Night Butterfly’ is also very easy to grow. Simply plant the tuber in fertile, well-drained soil after the last frost, ensuring the ‘eyes’ (growing points) face upwards. Choose a sunny spot where your ‘Night Butterfly’ will receive at least 6 hours of sunlight daily. Water regularly, especially during dry spells, and provide a light feed, if needed, every few weeks to keep the blooms coming.

Come winter, lift the tubers and store them in a cool, frost-free place, ready to be replanted the following spring. With a little care, your ‘Night Butterfly’ will grace your garden with its beauty for many seasons to come.
