Dahlia Cactus ‘Tahiti Sunrise’ (1 tuber)

Incredibly bright, uplifting and distinctive, the blooms of the Cactus Dahlia ‘Tahiti Sunrise’ are guaranteed to draw peoples attention. Flowering prodigiously from July through to September, these blooms consist of large (up to 20cm/8″ across) fully double red flowers fading to pink at the tip and yellow at their heart.

‘Tahiti Sunrise’ will excel as a cut flower thanks to its long vase life, however, it is equally at home in a garden border or container, providing a burst of bright and vivid summer colour. They are best in groups of around five for the best visual impact.

When planting in the garden look for a position of full sun into soil that is moist but well-drained with a good supply of humus. Plant 15cm/6″ deep and 60cm/24″ apart. Digging the soil over before planting is recommended. Provide consistent moisture during the growing season and do not allows solids to dry out. Plant in a sheltered position to protect your dahlia from strong winds.

For early flowering, tubers may be started off in boxes from March onwards, using a light soil mixed with peat and kept slightly moist. Keep boxes cool and free of frost and plant sprouted tubers when the danger of frost has passed. Keep plants well watered during growth and remove faded flowers.
