Dahlia Cactus ‘Gold Crown’ (1 tuber)

Flowering from July through to September, Dahlia Cactus ‘Gold Crown’ produces large and distinctive, spiky orange flowers that will introduce a sunny feel wherever they grow. Long lasting, these bright flowers sit atop tall sturdy stems, contrasting with their deep green foliage.

They will grow to a height of around 125cm/50″ which means they are ideal for adding some vertical interest into the back of a garden border.

When planting in the garden look for a position of full sun into soil that is moist but well-drained with a good supply of humus. Plant 15cm/6″ deep and 60cm/24″ apart. Digging the soil over before planting is recommended. The soil should always be moist, yet never flooded.

For early flowering, tubers may be started off in boxes from March onwards, using a light soil mixed with peat and kept slightly moist. Keep boxes cool and free of frost and plant sprouted tubers when the danger of frost has passed. Keep plants well watered during growth and remove faded flowers.
