Camellia japonica ‘Roger Hall’ is an early flowering shrub that will infuse your garden with excellent year-round beauty.
With its deep, velvety red, fully-double blooms that largely resemble roses, this camellia is a true showstopper. The flowers will appear towards late winter or early spring, contrasting perfectly against the glossy, dark green foliage.
This foliage is evergreen ensuring interest all throughout the year, making it perfect for any landscape or garden. It also grows to a relatively compact size of around 2.5m furthering its versatility and usability. It can be used a focal point, incorporated into a hedge, or left to thrive in a container on your patio.
Camellias are popular for their winter and spring flowering, providing a vivid splash of colour when little else is in bloom. They can be planted any time of the year, provided that the ground is not too frosty. They are lime-hating plants, meaning that they do not grow well in alkaline-based soils. So if your garden soil is more alkaline, then we would highly recommend planting this Camellia into a large pot or container with ericaceous compost.
We recommend watering the camellia well before removing from the pot and when planting on, use ericaceous compost and a fertiliser or feed suitable for ericaceous plants, such as Azalea, Camellia & Rhododendron Continuous Release Plant Food or Liquid Ericaceous Feed.
