Amaryllis ‘Mandela’ (Premium Indoor Growing Kit Gift Pack)

A perfect green-thumb gift, this Amaryllis ‘Mandela’ (Premium Indoor Growing Kit Gift Pack) kit includes the bulb, a pot and all the required compost.

Possibly the darkest of all amaryllis, ‘Mandela’ is a flowering Hippeastrum bulb, more commonly known as an amaryllis, blooming with striking dark-red flowers. These blooms can grow as large as 20cm across, with the plant reaching a total mature height of around 45cm/18″.

Easy to grow, simply place the compost pellet in a suitable mixing container and add 350ml of lukewarm water. Leave it to expand for thirty minutes to one hour and then mix the compost well before use. Half fill the container provided, place the bulb in the pot and fill around it, leaving a third of the bulb showing.

This variety is happiest when planted in direct sunlight at room temperature. It will then bloom around 8 weeks after planting in winter or early spring. You may need to support the stem as it grows and as the flowers bloom.

To extend the flowering period, we recommend moving this amaryllis to a cooler position once the flowers start to show.
