Tulip ‘The First‘ is an exceptionally early-blooming variety with a stunning mix of white, yellow and red petals. The flowers are about 2 inches in diameter and have a beautiful cupped shape. As a dwarf variety, growing to about 20cm or 8 inches tall, it is ideal for group planting at the front of borders, in rock gardens, or in containers.
Tulip ‘The First’ is low maintenance and easy to grow. Plant the bulbs in the autumn, after the first frost approximately 4-6 inches deep and 4-6 inches apart. Tulips prefer full sun and well-drained soil. Water them regularly, especially during the growing season.
These wonderful flower will bloom in early spring and last for about two weeks. Once the flowers have faded, cut the stems back to the ground. The leaves will continue to photosynthesize and store energy for the next year.
