The Nerine bowdenii ‘Alba’ flowers will provide some autumn colour for your garden borders when all other blooms are fading.
Nerine bowdenii Alba, also known as the White Guernsey Lily, are summer-dormant, perennial bulbs that flower in autumn around September. This ‘Alba’ variety is rare for Nerine’s as they usually produce pink blooms. The beautiful white blooms will provide a breath of fresh air, when all the other blooms are fading and past their best.
They bear striking sprays of lily-like flowers in crisp, pure white with recurved petals, standing on stiff upright stems and accompanied by rich green foliage which develops in spring. The slender, tall stems can grow up to 90cm / 36″ making them ideal for cut flowers at a time when blooms are scarce.
Plant in well-drained soil in a sunny position within garden borders, patio containers or in pots as they do not flower well in shaded areas. If you are planting in pots or containers, ensure you use a well-drained compost. Always plant with the neck of the bulb exposed between March, April and May.
