Cornus alba ‘Sibirica Variegata‘, commonly known as dogwood, produces year round interest with beautiful variegated foliage in the spring and summer followed by distinctive thickets of bright red stems in the autumn and winter.
This rotation of output is excellent for creating year round interest in your garden. The red stems, visible in autumn and winter, offer colour while little else is in bloom, while in spring and summer the foliage is complemented by delicate white flowers and pea-sized white berries.
An RHS Award of Garden Merit winner, ‘Sibirica Variegata’ is extremely reliable and easy to grow, withstanding any weather or temperatures that are typically seen in the UK. It is also a member of the RHS Plants for Pollinators collection, recognising its value in attracting and supporting bees and other pollinators in the garden.
Plant this shrub into a position of full sun or dappled shade with soil that is moist but well drained. Cornus tend not to be affected much by pests or disease and should be a reliable addition to your garden for years to come.
