The Cydonia oblonga ‘Vranja’ Quince Tree produces large quantities of wonderful quinces that have a delicious flavour and a magnificent fragrance. They are perfect for adding to a range of culinary dishes including preserves and jellies.
In addition to its magnificent fruit, it has a wide range of ornamental features to admire throughout the seasons. With beautiful spring flowers that appear in shades of creamy white and light pink, they cover the branches to create a dazzling display. As the flowers fade, the large oval shaped, mid-green foliage takes centre stage and acts as a backdrop to the vibrancy of summer. As the fruit starts to grow, they first appear in shades of green and turn a bright shade of yellow when ripe.
This Quince Tree is a great choice for enhancing informal spaces or cottage gardens, adding colour as well a structure to the space. It is grown on Quince A rootstock which makes it a great choice for average sized gardens, growing to an approximate mature height of 4-5 metres.
To achieve the best results from this tree, plant it in a bright and sunny position, in moist but well drained soil. It is hardy and suited to the UK climate but needs a sheltered spot to protect the flowers from late frosts. You will then enjoy many years of wonderful fruit and an array of ornamental features.
