Growing Quality Since 1978

Established in 1978, Woodlands nursery has been producing exceptional plants for almost 50 years. Today, Jamie Downes and his experienced team continue that tradition, combining decades of horticultural expertise with the latest growing techniques.

Across more than four acres of modern glasshouses, over four million plants are grown every year. Our extensive range includes seasonal bedding plants, herbaceous perennials, poinsettias, cyclamen, and many of the plants our customers return for year after year. From colourful salvias, geums, echinaceas and lupins to classic foxgloves, hostas and heucheras for shady spots, there's something to suit every garden.

Our homegrown geraniums and hanging baskets have earned an outstanding reputation for their quality, colour and performance.

Growing Responsibly

We embrace the latest technology to produce healthier plants while caring for the environment. The computer-controlled propagation and glasshouse systems create the ideal growing conditions, while harvested rainwater is recycled throughout the nursery. Compost waste is reused locally, plastics are recycled through local partners, and the plastic we use is fully detectable, making it suitable for kerbside recycling where facilities exist.
