The 'Victoria' Plum Tree is one of the most popular plum varieties in the UK. Introduced in mid 19th century, 'Victoria' has been praised for its versatile uses as a dessert and cooking plum.
An excellent variety for putting in jams and puddings, it also has a superb taste when eaten fresh off the tree. In addition to this, in spring single white flowers are an added delight.
This plum is available in different rootstocks to suit a range of gardens. The rootstock controls the rate of growth so you can choose a rootstock suitable to where you would like to plant your tree. The rootstock also ensures the tree fruits earlier than when grown on its own roots.
Pixy is a semi-dwarf variety that is suitable for smaller gardens, where space is at a premium. This rootstock grows up to a mature height of 2.5m (8ft) after 10 years.
St Julian A is a semi-vigorous variety and is one of the largest rootstocks available for plum trees. It is best suited to large gardens where space is not an issue. This rootstock grows to a mature height upwards of 3.5m (11ft) after 10 years.
