Seamlessly blending with a wide range of plants, Verbena 'Bonnie Blue' has clusters of lavender blue flowers on tall slender and airy stems. An effortless addition to the summer garden, it adds height and colour with it flowers growing above a neat mound of foliage at the base. A wonderful perennial to enjoy throughout the spring and into autumn, its elegant flowers are further enhanced when its green leaves turn to a striking shade of red in autumn.
With a long flowering season and open habit, it looks particularly striking planted alongside contrasting silhouettes and bold colours such as echinacea or rudbeckia. It will look wonderful planted at the front or the middle of a border making the most of its airy habit to punctuate displays. With a compact shape it also works well in a container display to admire on patio areas, along paths or next to entrances.
To get the best from your Verbena 'Bonnie Blue', plant it in a sheltered but bright and sunny position in moist, free draining soil. Apply a layer of mulch at the start of winter and prune to ground level in spring to keep it looking great year after year.
