Tulipa 'Czaar Peter' is a passionate and flamboyant tulip variety, producing deep and intense red flowers with margins of feathered and speckled white. These single, cup-shaped flowers sit atop 20cm/8" tall stems, above broadly lance-shaped, grey-green leaves that are heavily striped with purple.
This variety was also a recipient of the coveted Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit thanks to its fantastic reliability, consistent results and thorough disease and pest resistance.
These dependable and fully hardy spring flowering bulbs will re-appear for several years, ideal in small groups in borders or containers, providing a vital source of uplifting early spring colour. They are also great as cut flowers, deserving a place in the cut flower garden.
'Czaar Peter' tulip bulbs are able to be grown in a wide range of soil types, be it acidic, alkaline or neutral, so long as there is ample drainage. They will prefer a position of full sun, in a place where tulips have not been grown in recent years, preferably protected from strong winds.
Remove flowers when they begin to fade and support with a top dressing of slow acting fertiliser like bone-meal after planting to assist the flowering.
