The Salix matsudana ‘Tortuosa’ Tree, also known as the Dragon’s Claw Willow or Wiggerly Willow, is an enchanting specimen tree that is a great choice for adding year-round interest to medium sized gardens.
Growing with an upright and rounded crown as it matures, the twisted branches intertwine with one another and are adorned with curly mid-green leaves and subtle yellow catkins in spring. The magnificent foliage gradually turns to silvery hues before dropping its foliage in winter to reveal its stunning silhouette to admire throughout the winter months.
A versatile tree, it is a great choice for adding structure and interest to architectural spaces. It also works well attracting bees and other pollinators to wildlife gardens and has been added to the Royal Horticultural Society Plants for Pollinators Collection.
