The Quercus ilex Tree, also known as the Holm Oak Tree, is a wonderful, majestic Oak Tree. In spring the dark grey-green glossy leaves cover the tree alongside the delicate long yellow catkins. As the foliage matures, its spiny edge gradually smooths out and the colour turns to a dark green. In autumn beautiful, small green acorns adorn the tree, gradually turning brown.
In addition to these wonderful features, it grows a naturally rounded silhouette that looks magnificent. This Quercus ilex Tree also supports a range of wildlife and is good for providing food and shelter to birds.
This hardy tree is suitable for growing in most places around the UK, except for the very coldest areas where extreme temperatures may harm the tree. It grows well in a sunny or partially shaded position, in almost any soil type.
