The Prunus ‘Ukon’ Tree, or Japanese Flowering Cherry Tree, has large semi-double flowers that bloom in an unusual creamy yellow, sometimes with a tinge of pink.
Perfectly complementing the wonderful blooms, the foliage emerges in a warm bronze colour to intensify the hues of the creamy yellow petals. The leaves then gradually turn mid-green before transforming into their final autumnal show of crimson, maroon and deep purple.
This vigorous and relatively small growing tree has a beautiful spreading crown that creates a striking silhouette. It is a great choice for planting as a single tree, as a central display, which looks wonderful with underplanting for additional colour.
With consistent performance and healthy growth this tree has been recognised with a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
