Provanto Boltac Greasebands will control Winter Moth Caterpillars, earwigs and ants, protecting trees from nuisance pests.
Winter Moth Caterpillars emerge in spring to feed on foliage, flowers and young fruit. The wingless female moths climb trees in October, November and December and again in March, to lay their eggs. Boltac Greasebands will effectively trap these pests before they can damage the tree or its crop. Because the grease and bands are pesticide free, these bands are ideal for organic gardening.
Apply in autumn and keep in place until the following April. Apply in summer to trap earwigs and ants. The bands should be fixed well above the level of any surrounding vegetation to ensure that it is not bridged, which may allow insects to avoid the grease.
How to Use
- Remove the band from the packaging and unroll
- Cut off enough band to go round the tree trunk once, leaving 10cm (4") overlap
- Open out the band carefully to expose the greased surface
- Wrap the band around the tree firmly, sticky side exposed
- Overlap the ends to ensure a tight fit
- The bands should fit closely to the trunk for the best protection
- Use the wire provided to tie around the top and bottom of the band to secure it to the trunk
