A tasselled treasure, Muscari ‘Comosum’ bulbs grow into spires of grape-like indigo-blue flowers that have a ruffled tuft of buds that burst from the top. Also known as ‘Tassel Grape Hyacinth’, it adds a touch of the unexpected by combining vivid hues with a surprising silhouette.
Plants as a swathe of colour through a lawn, flowerbed or as a dramatic feature in a pot, this low maintenance perennial will return year after year with a display that gets bigger and better as each year passes. It also has the added benefit of being a bee and pollinator magnet, adding to the biodiversity of your garden.
Preferring a position with moist but free draining soil, it is an excellent addition to gravel gardens and paths, rockeries and a range of low maintenance spaces, such as wildlife gardens. Growing best in a position with partial shade, it is also ideal for planting under trees and shrubs or adding beauty and interest to dull corners of your outside space.
