The Malus 'Evereste', or Crab Apple Tree, puts on a magnificent display that transforms with the seasons. Highly floriferous with surprisingly large white flowers, that have a soft pink tinge, this beautiful spring display makes it almost impossible to see the branches.
As the flowers begin to fade, the fruit develops into a wonderful yellowy-orange crop, while the glossy green leaves transform into autumnal hues of amber, burnt orange and claret.
This magnificent tree grows in a conical shape, but with the weight of the fruit this can sometimes be semi-weeping to create a soft arching shape.
This beautiful tree looks fantastic in a range of garden spaces and makes an excellent ornamental tree with the fruit left on it. However, if you would like to use the fruit, they can also be used to make a range of culinary dishes, such as apple jelly, apple sauce or cider.
The Malus ‘Evereste’, or crab apple tree, is easy to grow and has received the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit for its consistent and reliable growth. It is also a great way to attract bees and other pollinators to your garden.
