Lily of the Valley (Convallaria Majalis) bulbs grow into small crystal-white bell-shaped flowers, above dark green stems with long dark green foliage.
The scent of the Lily of the Valley was made famous by French company Dior, after Christian Dior found it was his favourite flower and commissioned a fragrance, Diorissimo, that simulated the same scent. Additionally this stunning plant received the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit in 1993.
Traditionally seen in spring wedding bouquets, these plants flourish in moist soil and full or dappled shade making these bulbs ideal for planting in areas of woodland or shady borders. Make sure to put them somewhere noticeable, as after the flowers have died back little red berries will grow. These are also perfect for use as a cut flower.
It is recommended to plant the bulbs in part to full shade and a wide range of soil conditions including clay soils.
Be aware that this plant can be toxic to domestic animals, such as cats and dogs.
