Lilies like well-drained, moisture retentive soil with plenty of organic material. They like sun or partial shade and protection from strong winds. When planting in containers, plant deeply and keep well watered. A thick mulch is recommended to retain moisture. Remove faded flowers but do not cut back the stems before autumn.
