Lilium 'Asiatic Whistler' bulbs produces a beautiful lily with rose-peach flowers and plum coloured speckles that fade towards the tip.
Similar to other Asiatic lilies, Whistler’s foliage is bright green and glossy, providing a lovely frame to accentuate the stunning blooms. These lilies are able to flower for several years in beds and borders as well as tubs or pots and make an excellent cut flower to enjoy around the home.
Aim to plant these bulbs between February and June in preparation for them to bloom throughout July to August. The bulbs should be planted 12cm deep and at least 30cm apart in a heavy and well drained soil. Lilium bulbs greatly appreciate other plants or shrubs near their roots to provide some shade and protection, however try to find a spot where the head will receive strong sun. As these lilies can grow up to 100cm tall it can be necessary to stake them to avoid drooping.
To get the best floral display deadhead regularly and cut back the lily in autumn once the foliage has yellowed.
