A feast for the eyes, Libertia ixioides ‘Taupo Sunset’ has spikes of evergreen foliage that change colour with the seasons. From gorgeous greens to simmering golds, amazing oranges and rich reds, the foliage adds texture and simmering hues to admire throughout the year.
Also known as a ‘New Zealand Iris’, this sensational variety has panicles of white star-shaped flowers that are the perfect contrast to the foliage. These flowers then turn to orange berries in autumn, further adding to its ornamental appeal.
With a clump forming habit and eye-catching upright growth, it is excellent for filling gaps in your beds and borders. It also thrives in pots and containers adding interest to sunny patio areas and entrances.
To get the best display of colourful foliage from your Libertia ixioides ‘Taupo Sunset’, plant it in sunny position in moist but free draining soil. Ideally find a sheltered spot and protect it throughout the winter with a layer of mulch.
