The Helleborus ‘HGC Ice N’ Roses ‘Early Red’ is a magnificent Snow Rose variety from the Helleborus Gold Collection (HGC). With its large headed blooms of rich deep purple flowers and sunny yellow button centre, the colour on these dazzling flowers is wonderful to admire throughout the winter months and into spring, as it retains its wonderful rich colour without fading.
With flowers from as early as November, this highly floriferous and repeat flowering beauty has a striking starburst shape, which provides much-needed colour when many other flowers are dormant. In addition to its blooms, this Hellebore has an abundance of dark green glossy foliage that frames and accentuates the blooms perfectly.
The Ice N' Roses series of Hellebores produces extremely robust and reliable flowers that withstand frost and snow, repeat flowering year after year. An additional benefit of this series of blooms is that it grows well even in full sun, so you can plant this beautiful bloom in a variety of positions around the garden and watch it thrive. The ‘Early Red’ Hellebore looks wonderful grown in beds and borders mixed with other winter flowering blooms, or added to pots and containers where it will elevate the appeal of patio areas, balconies and entrances.
To get the best display of blooms, plant your Hellebore in a hole at least double the size of the root ball. Immerse the potted root ball in a bucket of water before planting and wait for the bubbles to stop rising to the surface. Then loosen the soil around the hole and position the Hellebore, lightly covering it with soil. Once planted create a small circular ridge in the soil around the blooms to aid water retention. Ensure that your Hellebore doesn't dry out, but don't over water it either. You will then enjoy this floral delight for decades, as it returns year after year, getting more beautiful as it matures.
