Hebe 'Silver Dollar' is a compact evergreen shrub producing grey-green leaves with a strong pink hue that becomes stronger and more distinctive during winter and early spring. Between June and July it will also produce short, mauve flowers that gradually fade to white.
Reaching an eventual height and spread of approximately 60cm in around 10 years, this constantly transforming and colour-shifting shrub is perfect as an attractive low, informal hedge and is a useful plant for urban or coastal gardens. It can also be used in pots or containers and among summer flower beds or borders.
This Hebe will thrive in full sun and should be planted into soil that is moist but well drained with a healthy dose of organic matter. Protect from cold, drying winds and propagate by semi-ripe cuttings. Watch for aphids, downy mildew or leaf spot and remove spent flower heads to prolong flowering and maintain its attractive appearance.
